Submission of a new manuscript

We assume that by submitting your article to Annales Botanici Fennici you accept our Terms and Conditions, and Copyright policy.

Please note that the authors are required to make all data underlying their article publicly available. For example, genetic data should be deposited in a recognized public repository, such as GenBank or EMBL-EBI. Accession numbers or DOIs of the data must be obtained before publication and be included in the article. If these are not yet available at the time of initial submission, please indicate the repositories where data will be deposited. For the review process, the data must be made confidentially available to editors and reviewers upon request.

Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted tools during the research process or manuscript preparation (e.g. for text generation or editing, data analysis, image generation or figure preparation). Authors must clearly state which tools were used and for what purpose. AI tools must not be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of all content in the manuscript.

Authorship

The authors should be arranged according to the degree of their contributions to the research and writing of the paper; the order should not be changed after submission.

Every person listed as an author should have

Individuals who have made lesser contributions, such as supervision or providing advice, occasional analyses, material or space, or who have supported the research in other ways (e.g., by acquisition of data or funding), should only be acknowledged.

Manuscript preparation and submission

First submission of a new manuscript should include

Name your files using the surname of the first author (e.g. Smith.pdf).

Main parts of the manuscript should be prepared as described in the Instructions. However, detailed editing of, e.g., reference format is not necessary at first submission. Poor language or substantial departure from the instructions will result in returning the manuscript without review.

In the submission form, only one person should be identified as the corresponding author. We will communicate exclusively with this author during the review and publication process.

Submissions are made by e-mail. To submit, send an e-mail to editor[at]sekj.org (cc to sekj.journals[at]gmail.com). Attach the files (manuscript PDF and text file, submission form) and include your cover letter into the body text of the email. After the submission, all authors will receive an acknowledgement email, usually within a few working days. If you do not hear from us, please inquire by sending an e-mail to editor[at]sekj.org (cc to sekj.journals[at]gmail.com).
