Taxonomic clarity for South Indian freshwater plants! Two heterotypic synonyms resolved in Rotala (Lythraceae): R. cheruchakkiensis → R. malampuzhensis & R. baileyana → R. tulunadensis. Based on morphology and seed testa micromorphology.

Two new tree species (Lauraceae) described from shola forests of the southern Western Ghats: Litsea meesapulimalaiana and L. idukkiana are narrowly endemic to high elevations in Kerala, India.
